Description

As part of the CRAB (Computerized Reading-related Assessment Battery), the Text Reading task assesses connected-text reading by asking participants to read a short passage aloud in a single continuous trial. The spoken reading is recorded via microphone and scored offline through an automatic speech recognition (ASR) alignment pipeline. This task targets oral reading fluency, which draws on decoding, word recognition, and prosody together rather than isolated words. Authored in Unity for the lab; the catalog preview is a recorded video walkthrough, and the full task is available as a downloadable Unity build. Note: this module is flagged as an abandoned/experimental feature in the source Unity project and was not part of the final CRAB deployment — treat it as less polished than the battery's other modules.
